Meet the team
Jamie McCulloch (Co-Owner & Funeral Director)
Jamie is a dedicated funeral director with more than 12 years' experience in the funeral industry working alongside his father-in-law Frank Coates.
During this time, Jamie and Frank looked after thousands of local families with compassion, dignity and empathy.
Frank sold his business in 2017 to Funeral Partners Limited and subsequently retired in 2024. Frank gave Jamie and Carl his full blessing to open a new Independent Funeral Service to continue serving the families of Heywood and surrounding areas.
Jamie is married to wife Abigail who also serves the local community in her role as a Community Midwife. They have three children together, Jonathan, Benjamin and Gabrielle.
Jamie's hobbies include football, cricket and walking. He is an active member of Heywood Cricket Club.
Jamie says,
"I want to give personal care and attention to all families in their time of need, that is our mission statement at McCulloch and Gleave Independent Funeral Services.
I lost my own father at an early age and witnessed first-hand what losing a loved one can be like. I aim to care for families in the way I would want my loved ones to be cared for"
Carl Gleave (Co-Owner)
Carl has lived and worked in Heywood most of his working life. He is on the board of directors at Heywood Bowling Club and was the main driving force behind the regeneration of the club ensuring it didn't close it's doors forever during the coronavirus pandemic. The club is now a family friendly place with over 500 members. Carl is also a member of the Crusaders; this is a group of local people who come together to raise money to help local people and local charitable organisations.
Carl has been a strong supporter of family and friends during their most difficult times as well as supporting several Heywood charities, raising much needed funds for Well Mental UK, Fairfield Hospital and Springhill Hospice.
Carl has two children, Charlotte and Bradley and is married to wife Andrea. Andrea has also worked in Heywood for over 30 years running her own hair salon and now spends a lot of her free time helping local charities such as Sandon House. Carl enjoys many sports and was once a semi-professional footballer. He has also played locally for The Three Terriers, Seven Stars and Heywood St. James.
Carl says,
"I have known Jamie for over 30 years and when my mother sadly passed away it was Jamie I turned to. If there was ever a perfect funeral, that was it and this made it an easy decision to create McCulloch and Gleave Independent Funeral Services."
Stephanie Tierney (Office Manager)
Stephanie has worked in the funeral industry serving the families of Heywood and the surrounding areas for over 7 years, working alongside both Frank Coates and Jamie McCulloch. During that time she has arranged hundreds of local ceremonies and supported families through their most difficult times. Stephanie is continuing the family tradition by following her mother, Angela, who spent 40+ years working in the funeral industry.
Stephanie absolutely loves her job and supporting "her families" and always strives to create the perfect farewell in a caring and compassionate manner.
As a working mother of two beautiful girls, Stephanie has a busy schedule with school runs and extra-curricular activities. When she does get some spare time, she enjoys going to the gym, running and socialising with friends and family.
Stephanie has a number of charities close to her heart and regularly supports these by taking part in various challenges. Her most recent challenge was completing the National Three Peaks Challenge.
Stephanie says,
"It is an honour and privilege to be trusted by families to look after them during their time of need. I take great pride in providing the best care for the families and their loved ones during their most challenging times.
My eldest daughter was seriously ill when she was only 6 years old, and I try to pass on the compassion and care shown to my family and I during that time to the bereaved families I support."
